Laval, November 20, 2012 – The “Comité Conjoint Lavallois du Monument du Génocide Arménien (CCLMGA)”, a committee composed of representatives of all Armenian churches in Laval, is proud to announce that the fundraising for the erection of the monument has now been officially launched.Since 2010, the committee has worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this project. The monument is dedicated to the memory of more than one and a half million victims of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish government in 1915.The blessing of the land ceremony took place on June 20, 2010, on the site of the monument. It was blessed by His Holiness Aram 1st , Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia, in the presence of the heads of all Armenian churches in Laval and Montreal, the representatives of various levels of government and various Armenian organizations of the greater Montreal area, and members of the Armenian community.The monument will be erected on a land provided by the city of Laval and situated at the corner of Daniel Johnson Boulevard and the service road of Highway 440 East.For more information on the project, the monument design and how to contribute financially, we invite you to visit the website of CCLMGA at www.lavalmonument.com
