(OTTAWA – August 22, 2022) – Today, the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC) issued the following statement regarding the upcoming Leadership Race of the Conservative Party of Canada.
“Throughout the past several months, we, the Armenian National Committee of Canada – in coordination with our nationwide network of chapters – have closely followed the race for leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.
“During this time, we had the opportunity to meet with several of the candidates, where we thoroughly discussed our policy priorities and the concerns of the Armenian-Canadian community.
“While we are and remain a non-partisan organization committed to working with all parties across the political spectrum, we find it important to inform our community members of our discussions and engagements in order to help them make a more informed decision.
“Based on the discussions and reactions we received from the candidates that we had the opportunity to meet, we have concluded that the Hon. Pierre Poilievre has the deepest and most comprehensive understanding of the issues concerning the Armenian-Canadian community. During a recently held meeting in Montreal, Quebec, Mr. Poilievre communicated his principled stance on our key policy priorities and made a concrete commitment to working with our community in order to address the issues concerning Armenian-Canadians.
“For these reasons, we urge our community members who are members of the Conservative Party of Canada to vote for the Hon. Pierre Poilievre.”
