FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sunday November 12, 2010                  Contact: Roupen Kouyoumdjian (B.Sc., M.Sc.)

 Remembrance day: Remembering the fallen

Ottawa The ultimate sacrifice that one can offer its country is not the time invested in working towards its security, wellbeing and safety of its people, but their sacrifice of life. Flipping through the pages of history we notice that so many men, women and children have done so, whether it was while defending their lands and country, during the process of military mobilisations, or during acts of crimes barely hidden behind the curtains of wars.

Being believers of the principals of freedom and liberty, Armenians, who were forced out of their ancestral lands at the beginning of the twentieth century, living in the diaspora, have been serving their adoptive country’s military units in times of need. Canadians of Armenian origin who fought under the Canadian flag during the Second World War are amongst them.
The Armenian National Committee of Canada, on behalf of the Canadian Armenian community, would like to thank the Canadian Government and its armed forces for the security, and safety they bring to our community and country from coast to coast and we remember and are grateful for the ultimate sacrifice of all those who have fallen on and off the battlefields to protect our welfare.
