Having accepted the invitation of the Armenian Community, Mr. Michael Ignatieff, leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and head of the opposition in the House of Commons as well as Ms. Noushig Eloyan, candidate for the riding of Ahuntsic, met with representatives of the Armenian National Committee of Canada followed by a meeting with representatives of Armenian organizations operating in the Montreal area.

Both meetings were fruitful and constructive, Ms. Eloyans’ active participation throughout both meetings was well accepted and appreciated from the participants. After discussing several topics such as: upcoming federal elections, bilateral Canada-Armenia relations, the Armenian genocide and related topics as well as the topic of Nagorno-Karabakh, the discussion period was followed by a question period where all representatives had the opportunity to express themselves, at which time an array of topics were touched (social programs, education, Armenian communities importance and implication in the Canadian society, the place that our youth occupies within society, etc.).
